About the Parish
The Descent of the Holy Spirit parish is a Romanian Orthodox community in Elkins Park, Philadelphia, part of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (ROEA). Founded in 1913 by Romanian immigrants, the parish keeps the Orthodox faith and Romanian tradition alive on American soil.
Services are celebrated in both Romanian and English. Beyond its liturgical life, the community hosts cultural events, fellowship coffee hours and charitable works, while the beloved parish kitchen brings parishioners together around traditional Romanian dishes.
